The exhibition “Cultural Heritage of the Novgorod Monasteries” for the first time combined in one museum space the history of 25 Novgorod monasteries with preserved and restored buildings.
Among the exhibits there are copies of traced wall paintings, made by F.M. Fomin in 1894 and provided by Tamara Ivanovna Anisimova, the director of the “Fresco” Scientific Restoration Workshop. The museum also houses a brick with graffiti made in 1352 from the ruins of Assumption Church on the Volotovo Field.
The artistic part of the exhibition includes over 35 paintings and graphic works from the museum’s collections. These include works by painters whose artistic heritage is the pride of Veliky Novgorod: Dmitry Sergeyevich Kondratiev, Ilya Iosifovich Kushnir, Grigory Mikhailovich Shtender, Semyon Ivanovich Pustovoytov, Vasily Makarovich Chekhonadsky, Vladimir Viktorovich Zhuravlyov, as well as works by contemporary artists.
The concept of the exhibition was developed by Lyudmila Andreyevna Sekretar, an Honored Cultural Worker of the Russian Federation and author of the monograph “Monasteries of Veliky Novgorod and the Surrounding Areas”.
The author of the artistic concept is Leonty Vladimirovich Ozernikov, a board member of the Guild of Artistic Design of Russia (Moscow).

As part of the exhibition, films directed by Alla Osipova “A Time to Gather Stones” and “Like a Phoenix from the Ashes” are played.
