The exhibition “Chaliapin House in Moscow” is dedicated to the life and work of the great Russian bass Feodor Ivanovich Chaliapin. In this house Chaliapin played music, prepared for tours and new roles and, of course, held tea parties with friends.
The artifacts presented at the exhibition will help the visitor discover Feodor Chaliapin’s personal side: a loving husband and a father of many children, who loved conjuring up kind stories for them and drawing funny pictures. Chaliapin was a gifted draughtsman, and his close association and friendships with many painters further developed this talent in him. The singer often said that he learned the accuracy of the drawing from Valentin Serov, and the colorfulness from Konstantin Korovin. He created sketches for theatrical make-up, self-caricatures and caricatures.
Finally, the Estate Museum on Novinsky Boulevard displays paintings and drawings created by Chaliapin’s friends, sketches of costumes and the costumes themselves that he used for his most significant roles, as well as household items that vividly show the life of his artistic family in Moscow, and much more.
