The Uray City Historical Museum was created by public donations. Many residents of the town and surrounding villages have contributed to its formation. Over the years of its existence, the museum has changed its appearance more than once, but has always taken an active part in the cultural life of the city, presented new exhibition projects, constantly updated the permanent historical exhibition and held various educational and cultural events.
One of the fundamental activities of the Uray City Historical Museum is the acquisition of new exhibits: the main task is to identify and collect objects of museum significance in order to enhance the museum collection. For 40 years of work, the museum has accumulated about 30,000 items of storage.
In 2019, the Uray City Historical Museum moved from the old building to the new cultural and historical center and opened a new modern historical exhibition, which managed to combine memorial items with computer technology. The museum hosts more than 50 exhibitions annually.
