The Nizhny Lomov Museum of Local Lore was founded in 1967. In 1979, it became a branch of the regional museum of local lore. In 1986, its exhibitions were moved to an 1813 building which is a cultural heritage monument of regional significance.
The museum hosts temporary exhibitions, as well as permanent exhibitions that are represented in eight halls, including “The Foundation of Nizhny Lomov”, “Peasant Life”, “Fair”, “The Nobility of the Nizhny Lomov District”, “The Revolution”, “The Great Patriotic War” and “The 20th Century”. It also houses two eye-catching scenic dioramas — “Fortress City” and “The Kazan Fair”.
Visitors are particularly fond of theatrical
tours such as “The Life of Our Ancestors”, “At The Samovar”, and “The Living
Pages of History”. The Nizhny Lomov Museum of Local Lore participates in the
Pushkin Card program, offering students the opportunity to attend workshops,
quests, interactive activities, and themed tours.
