The Radogoshch Museum, located in the Pogarsky District, was founded in 1986. The building, where the exhibition is held, was built in the late 19th century. At that time, it belonged to the merchant Vasily Levando.
Nowadays, the Radogoshch Museum houses medieval weapons, ancient kitchenware, models of ruined buildings, exact copies of royal decrees, as well as exhibits of the war years: clippings from newspapers and awards of Pogar citizens, who fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War.
The Radogoshch Museum stores photographs, documents, materials and exhibits related to the life and work of Sol Hurok — a Pogar native and a legendary American impresario who introduced bass singer Feodor Chaliapin, dancer Isadora Duncan and composer Alexander Glazunov to New York. Sol Hurok was the first to arrange for American singer Marian Anderson to perform at the inauguration of U. S. President John F. Kennedy.
