The painting “Karabikha” from the museum-reserve of the same name is the work of the Yaroslavl painter and teacher Andrey Evgenyevich Morev.

Andrey Evgenyevich Morev was born in Yaroslavl on October 14, 1952. He was interested in drawing since his childhood. At that time, the family of the future artist lived in the city center, not far from the Volga embankment. After walks with his parents, Andrey liked to draw from memory what he saw: steamboats and the embankment.

Over the years, his interest in drawing did not disappear. A little later, Andrey’s father suggested that his son go to art school.

Andrey Morev recalled,

In 1972, Andrey Evgenyevich entered the Yaroslavl Art School, and after its graduation began teaching at the Children’s Art School No. 2 in 1976.

In 1989, he graduated from the Art and Graphic Department of the Kostroma State University and continued his pedagogical career while participating in various art exhibitions.

In 1996, Andrey Evgenyevich Morev was admitted to the Union of Artists of Russia.

All these years he traveled to plein airs, that is, he worked with canvases in the open air. The painter visited the Yaroslavl, Vologda and Ivanovo regions.

Morev said, “Each trip is a vivid experience, and new emotions… Since 1999, I have been working as a teacher of painting and composition at Yaroslavl Art School. I try to teach the students with whom I hold plein airs to see the beauty of nature too. The nature of our region is discreet and modest, it takes a long look to see it and only after you start to see this beauty around you, you want to take paints and brushes and plunge into work. In the coming years, I believe that the main goal for me is to continue my artistic development and not to rest on my laurels.“
