Tamara Grigoryevna Yufa was a graphic artist, book illustrator, and set designer.

Tamara Yufa designed numerous books, many of which have been successfully reprinted. The world of theater is proud of the productions the artist designed, including ones staged at the National Theater, the Puppet Theater of Karelia, the Pushkin Drama Theater in St. Petersburg, and the theaters in Liepaja and Riga.

Lemminkainen is an adventurous character and a favorite of women. His mother evidently spoiled him as a child, and he grew up to be a frivolous and carefree young man. He is fearless and willing to face danger. Although he lacks judgment and is prone to bragging, people still love him for his unique character.

Lemminkainen’s imprudent actions lead to unfortunate consequences. Despite his mother’s warnings, he attends a wedding feast in Pohyola without being invited. Before doing so, he leaves his comb with his mother, instructing her that if the comb bleeds, he is in danger. He navigates rivers of fire and battles monsters on his way to the wedding. Upon arrival, he causes a commotion. In a duel between sorcery and swords, Lemminkainen kills the ruler of Pohyola and incites all Laplanders against himself. He must flee, and his mother directs him to the island where his father took refuge during wars. However, he cannot stay out of trouble even on the island: his flirting with the local women angers the men, causing him to return.

In the story, Lemminkainen discovers that his home has been destroyed and mourns the loss of his mother. However, his mother is revealed to be alive, and she explains how the Laplanders burned their home. Lemminkainen vows revenge and, alongside his old friend, Tiera, travels to Pohyola. Along the way, they fight Louhi’s son, Frost. Throughout the journey, Lemminkainen performs feats.

Tamara Yufa enhances the image of this strong, brave and agile young man with her distinctive feminine touch. With her elegant ornamentation, Yufa seems to weave fine lace and decorate with it not only the hero’s clothes, but also his facial features: eyebrows, eyelashes, lips, and beard. The blond, handsome man is a favorite of women for a reason.
