In the 1920s, Kandinsky’s art acquired new characteristics. His painting Blue Over Multicoloured relates to the period when he worked at the Bauhaus school, which was the champion of new educational and creative ideas. For Kandinsky, this was the time of his most active teaching and theoretical work. In 1926, his two major works were published: the book “Point and Line to Plane” and the article “Main Elements of Shape”.

“Cold” period
#3
Kandinsky implemented his theory in his paintings, so they became more rational, well-made, and logical. In this artwork, he solves a compositional task — revealing connections between elements from which the form is born: points, lines, spaces, planes, and colors. The combination of these elements builds harmonious classical structures. The artist referred to this period as “cold”.
