The Central Stores and Clothing department of the USSR Armed Forces was constantly developing a special form of clothing - special suits, overalls and work suits.
In 1975 the department started developing a set of field summer (winter) uniforms of a new type for soldiers of the USSR Armed Forces. In 1976 various samples produced from different fabrics were tested.
The uniform is an in-house development of the Central Stores and Clothing department of the USSR Armed Forces. It is based on the special uniform of the scouts and special clothing of the tank troops soldiers.
It was officially approved by the Order of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR No. 250 on March 4, 1988 as an everyday and field uniform for the servicemen of the Airborne Forces, and as a field uniform for the servicemen of other types of the Soviet Army, as well as the Marine Corps, the Coastal missile and artillery troops and the Air Force of the USSR Navy.
